Training of newly recruited Village Malaria Workers completed.
June 26 to 28 2019 – MEDP conducted the induction trainings for the newly recruited 20 Village Malaria Workers. As routine practice, the selected candidates are attached to their respective Malaria Field Coordinators for ‘shadowing’. Once the candidates have seen their working area, understood the process and given consent for the posting – the induction trainings are initiated. This leads in increased compliance at the job post-training. The training was conducted in collaboration with the District Malaria Office of Mandla. In the post-training assessment, all 20 Village Malaria Workers qualified the exam which has a 70% qualifying threshold . All the candidates scored more than 85% marks with 11 of them scored 100%. The batch has been cleared for active duty.

Mass screening and treatment exercise completed.
As per the operational plan of MEDP and recommendations from the 3rd Malaria Elimination Advisory Group (MEAG) meeting held in New Delhi, the mass screening and treatment (MSAT) exercise in two blocks of Mandla was initiated as per the approved MSAT protocol of ICMR NIRTH Jabalpur. Technicians from NIRTH visited Mandla and supported the exercise on-ground.
The coverage of target population was at 97.8% against the desired target of >80%. From each tested individual (11454), all three samples (RDT, Blood Slide, Filter Paper) were attempted. We have been able to collect all three samples from more than 98% individuals. Zero positive cases found in low API category (Narayanganj) and 7 positive cases found in high API category (Mawai). Amongst the 7 cases, 6 were asymptomatic, 4 were Pf, 3 were Pv. In terms of migration, 4 were introduced cases, 3 were indigenous in origin. The MSAT data is maintained separately and is not included in the regular surveillance reports
