LLINs distribution in Mandla district
In the month of February 2019, the Madhya Pradesh government started the distribution of 250250 Long Lasting Insecticidal Bed Nets (LLINs) in 460 selected villages of Mandla district based upon 2015 epidemiological data. Areas having API more than one were selected for distribution of the LLINs.
After last year’s distribution of LLINs, MEDP carried out post-distribution monitoring and presented its report on the same. Keeping in mind the gaps observed, the main focus areas were identified as IEC/BCC and microplanning of the distribution along with an effective communication system.
MEDP participated in helping with the distribution plan of the bed nets along with providing its Village Malaria Workers for IEC/BCC activities during the distribution. The Malaria Field Coordinators were also stationed at their respective areas on the days of distribution of bed nets.
A live WhatsApp group was created consisting of SPO (Bhopal), CMHO, DMO, DVBDC, BMOs, MTSs, MIs, and MEDP staff. Everyday latest information about the LLIN distribution is posted on the group by the respective personnel and troubleshooting is done. The deadline for exercise was February 25, 2019; which has been extended to March 15, 2019.
