Revision of Surveillance data (hard copies) reporting system
The surveillance data reporting system consists of two modes – Electronic and Hard Copies. The electronic mode enables us to obtain real-time data information of positive cases and gives us compilation of surveillance data at regular intervals. The hard copies help us in maintaining physical records, line-list of fever cases along with cross-validation of electronic and physical data. Till now, the physical records were collected during regular supervisory field visits by District-level staff and during monthly meeting of the MFCs. This resulted in an overwhelming amount of data getting dumped in the office and caused confusion amongst the data entry staff in systemizing the same. To resolve this problem – we have introduced reporting of physical forms by public buses on 3 days of the month (8th, 16th and 23rd) and one day by-hand (1st – during monthly meeting). This segregates the data automatically into weekly, fortnightly and monthly intervals. 13 reporting sites have been identified and the forms no. 9 (fever cases) and 9A (positive cases) are sent by the MFCs in the morning bus to the district office.
